About the Pluslingua Group
Pluslingua Holding GmbH, based in Munich, brings together several specialised companies under one roof. Our group of companies is a leading provider of services in the fields of technical documentation, translations, terminology management and technical training. With over 140 permanent employees and a network of over 2,000 freelance specialist translators, we serve more than 400 customers worldwide.
Our history
The Pluslingua Group’s success story began back in 2006 in Spain, when the company was founded purely as a translation service provider. The expansion into German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) was initiated as early as 2008. To start with, this took place from Spain, but soon after, for strategic reasons, Pluslingua GmbH was founded with headquarters in Munich.
2012 marked a significant milestone when a venture capitalist showed interest in acquiring shares in Pluslingua. As part of this investment, Pluslingua Holding GmbH was founded to bring the Spanish and German Pluslingua companies together under the auspices of one legal entity. The aim was to use the venture capitalist’s investment and existing network to increase sales in the translation sector. However, these sales promises were not delivered. So, in 2014, the management decided to buy back all the shares in the holding company in order to regain its strategic independence.
The period that followed was characterised by targeted growth through acquisitions:
- 2018: Acquisition of IDEM Doku GmbH – at the time still with a 51% stake held by the Volkswagen Group
- 2018: Foundation of PlusDocu GmbH
- 2021: Takeover of textrio GmbH after the company’s founders retired
- 2024: Foundation of IDEM Automotive Solutions GmbH through the acquisition of an entity of the Arvato Group
- 2024: Takeover of KTD GmbH in the wake of company succession following the owner’s retirement
